Timers, Ready-Up & Penalties
NeatQueue removes players, bans dodgers and finishes matches on its own when timers run out. This page lists each automatic action, its default, and the command that changes it.
All of these settings are per queue (run the command in the queue's channel) and take times in seconds, except the points penalty, which is server-wide.
| What happens | Default | Change it with |
|---|---|---|
| Players have to ready up within | 5 minutes (300) | /lobbychannel timer |
| A player who dodges is banned from queuing for | 3 minutes (180) | /dodge autoban |
| An inactive player is removed from the queue after | 90 minutes (5400) | /timer afk |
| The whole queue is emptied after no joins or leaves for | 60 minutes (3600) | /timer queuereset |
| An unfinished match is scored automatically after | 3 hours (10800) | /timer matchcleanup |
Ready-up
When a queue fills, every player has to show they're there before the match continues. Choose how with /readyup mode:
- Join Lobby Voice Channel (default): players join the match's voice channel. The match continues as soon as every player is in it. If you set a waiting channel with
/lobbychannel set, players already in it are moved in for you. - Ready Up Button: players click Ready Up! in the match channel.
- Disabled: no ready-up. Nobody can be removed or banned for not readying.
On the Web Queue, players can also ready up or press Decline from the Match found screen.
Players have 5 minutes by default. Change it with /lobbychannel timer. Staff can stop the countdown for a match with /lobbychannel pause in its channel. Nobody is removed while it's paused. Resume it with /lobbychannel unpause.
When someone doesn't ready up
When the time runs out, everyone who hasn't readied up is treated as inactive. A player who presses Decline on the web is treated as inactive straight away, without waiting for the timer. Then:
- Inactive players get the dodge penalties, if auto bans are on (see Dodging).
- NeatQueue tries to replace them with players waiting in the queue. If it finds enough, the match continues and the replacements get a fresh ready-up timer. Players who already readied up stay ready. This is on by default; turn it off with
/readyup replaceinactive toggle, and choose who gets picked with/readyup replaceinactive mode(Closest Rated by default). - If nobody can replace them, the match is cancelled and its channels are deleted after 30 seconds. The players who did ready up are put back at the front of the queue. The inactive players aren't, and neither is the rest of a party that had an inactive member. To requeue nobody, set
/requeue matchcancelledto Disabled.
Replacing and requeuing only happen when matches get their own channels (/tempchannels toggle, on by default). Without match channels, the inactive players are simply removed from the queue and everyone else stays in it.
Dodging
A dodge is not readying up before the ready-up timer runs out, or pressing Decline on the web. A player who dodges is banned even if replacements let the match go ahead.
Auto ban
Auto bans are on for every new queue, at 3 minutes. A banned player:
- can't join any queue in the server until the ban ends, not just the queue they dodged;
- is removed from any other queue they're waiting in;
- gets a DM saying how long the ban lasts and why ("Dodged the match"), and another DM when it ends.
Set the length with /dodge autoban, in seconds. Use 0 to turn auto bans off.
Running /dodge autoban without a duration bans dodgers for 315360000 seconds, which is about 10 years. Enter the number of seconds you want, such as 600 for 10 minutes.
Staff can lift a ban early with /player unban and see who is banned with /player banlist show. To give banned players a role while their ban lasts, use /autoroles banned.
MMR and points penalties
You can also take MMR or points from dodgers. Both are 0 (off) by default.
| Command | What it takes | Scope |
|---|---|---|
/dodge mmrpenalty | MMR in the queue they dodged | Per queue |
/dodge pointspenalty | Points | Whole server |
Both penalties are applied together with the auto ban, so they only apply while auto bans are on for that queue. If you set /dodge autoban to 0, dodgers lose nothing. The ban DM tells the player how much they lost.
Being removed from the queue automatically
AFK kick
AFK kick is on by default. A player who has been inactive for 90 minutes while waiting in a queue is removed from it and gets a DM saying so.
Activity is anything NeatQueue can see: sending a message, using a NeatQueue command, button or menu, or joining, leaving or muting in voice. Any activity restarts the countdown.
Five minutes before removal, the player gets a DM warning with an Im Here! button. Clicking it counts as activity and keeps them in the queue. If the AFK time is 5 minutes or less, there's no warning.
Change it with /timer afk: set toggle to False to turn it off, or True with a timer in seconds. If you turn it on without a timer, it uses 3600 (60 minutes), not the 90-minute default.
Queue reset
If nobody joins or leaves a queue for 60 minutes, NeatQueue empties it and posts "Emptying queue due to 60 minutes of inactivity". Players have to join again.
Change the time with /timer queuereset. There's no off switch: to keep queues open longer, set a longer time. Don't set it to 0, which empties the queue as soon as anyone joins.
Removed from other queues when a match starts
When a player's match starts, they're removed from every other queue they're waiting in, so they can't be in two matches at once. Turn it off with /matchstart removefromqueues. A queue with it turned off neither removes its players from other queues when its matches start nor loses players when other queues' matches start.
Unfinished matches
How the winner is decided
During a match, players vote for the winning team (or Tie, if ties are on). By default the winner needs a Majority of votes. Change this with /requiredvotes winner; if you haven't set it, the queue's /requiredvotes default applies.
Staff can decide any match at any time with /outcome selectwinner, /outcome tie or /outcome cancel. To let only staff decide results, use /message winnermessage results.
When the match cleanup timer runs out
If a match has no result 3 hours after it starts, NeatQueue scores it itself:
- The team with the most votes wins, even with a single vote. If teams are level on votes, the one listed first wins.
- If nobody voted, the match is recorded as a tie.
Stats and MMR are updated, results are posted and the match channels are deleted, just as if players had voted. This also happens when only staff can report results: if staff don't decide the match in time, it's recorded as a tie. It doesn't happen when results are turned off with /message winnermessage results.
Change the time with /timer matchcleanup. If the bot restarts, the countdown for running matches starts again from the beginning.
If a match was scored wrongly, see Correcting Results & Editing Stats.
