Points, Predictions and Shop

Points are a currency that is completely separate from MMR. Players earn them by playing, and can spend them on predictions, queue entry prices, tournament entry, and (on premium servers) a shop.

Earning points

By default players get 100 points for a win and 100 points for a loss. Ties and cancelled matches award nothing.

CommandWhat it does
/points change winPoints gained for a win
/points change lossPoints gained for a loss
/points startingvaluePoints new players start with (default 0)
/points minimumLowest balance a player can reach (omit to remove the limit)
/points maximumHighest balance a player can reach (omit to remove the limit)

The minimum and maximum apply to points gained from wins and losses. For example, with a maximum of 1000, a player at 950 who wins 100 points ends at 1000.

Role multipliers

Reward certain roles with extra points using /points multipliers set, for example 1.2 for a 20% boost. Remove one with /points multipliers remove.

  • Multipliers are set per queue, so run the command in the queue's channel.
  • If a player has several roles with multipliers, only the highest one applies. They do not stack.

Players can check their balance any time with /shop balance.

Predictions

Predictions let players wager points on who will win a match.

When a match starts, NeatQueue posts a prediction message with a Predict button. Players pick a team and an amount, or use /predict with the game number, team, and amount.

  • The points are taken immediately when the prediction is placed.
  • Predictions close after a timer (180 seconds by default).
  • Players in the match can only predict on their own team, and nobody can switch teams after betting. Betting again on the same team adds to the wager.
  • When the match is scored, everyone who picked the winning team splits the entire pot in proportion to how much they staked. Losing stakes are gone.
  • If the match is cancelled or tied, or nobody predicted against the winning side, all stakes are refunded.
  • Players receive a DM with the result.

Setting up predictions

Predictions are staff-controlled with the /predictions commands:

CommandWhat it does
/predictions toggleTurn predictions on or off
/predictions channelWhere prediction messages are posted (defaults to the queue channel)
/predictions timerHow many seconds predictions stay open
/predictions roleRole to ping when a prediction opens
note

If you have never toggled predictions, they are on by default only for servers with more than 100 members.

Entry prices

You can make a queue cost points to join with /queueentry price. Players need enough points to join, and the entry fees from a match form a prize pool that is split among the winning team.

The optional payout_fee is a percentage taken from that pool before it is paid out, so a fee of 10 pays out 90% of the pool. If a match ends in a tie or is cancelled, entry fees are refunded.

Tournaments can have their own entry price. See Tournaments.

Shop

The shop lets players spend points on rewards. It is a premium feature, and on servers without premium the shop is hidden from players entirely.

Item types

  • Role: the buyer is given a Discord role right away. NeatQueue needs the Manage Roles permission, and the role must sit below NeatQueue's highest role. If the role can't be given, the buyer is refunded automatically.
  • Manual Prize: staff hand out the reward themselves. You can ask the buyer for extra info at checkout (such as a Steam ID) and add a note for staff.
  • Loot Box: the buyer gets one random prize from a list you define. Each prize has a weight, and a higher weight means a better chance. Prizes can be roles or manual prizes, and can have an optional rarity label.

Item options

Each item has a point cost and can optionally have:

  • A stock limit, after which it sells out
  • A per-user limit that resets over a window: lifetime, daily, weekly, or monthly (daily is the last 24 hours, weekly the last 7 days, monthly the last 30 days)
  • A required role that buyers must have

Setting up the shop

Everything is under /shopconfig, and can also be done from the Shop page of your server in the web dashboard.

  1. /shopconfig additem to create items. For a loot box, follow up with /shopconfig lootbox addentry for each prize.
  2. /shopconfig channel to choose the staff channel where manual prize requests are posted. Each request has Mark Fulfilled and Refund buttons.
  3. /shopconfig post to post a storefront message in a channel. It updates as you change items.
  4. /shopconfig enable to open the shop. /shopconfig disable closes it.

To change things later, use /shopconfig edititem (set stock or per-user limit to -1 for unlimited, or turn an item off with enabled), /shopconfig removeitem, and /shopconfig lootbox removeentry.
